HOLY LAND

PILGRIMAGE
(30 April to 10 May 2024)

Journey on the Footprints of GOD

The Holy Land is a sacred site of pilgrimage and reflection for Christians. It is the birthplace of the mystery of our salvation, where the Word of God took on flesh and the message of Jesus Christ was carried forth to the corners of the earth.

Rev. Fr. Michael Chua Kim Wah

Spiritual director

As you embark on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, you will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. You can visit the places where he was born, grew up, preached, and walked his last journey before he was crucified. This is a transformative experience that allows you to deepen your spiritual understanding and connect with the message of love and salvation that has been carried forth from this sacred ground to the corners of the earth.

  • 30 Apr to 10 May 2024
    (11 Days, 9 Nights)

  • We will start our journey by taking a night flight from KLIA with a layover in Istanbul the next day before finally arriving in Tel Aviv.

  • Upon arrival, we will have lunch. Then we will visit the Saxum Visitor Center, a modern facility devoted to enhancing the spiritual experience through multimedia exhibits and guided tours. We will have Mass at the center before we will proceed to Stella Maris Carmelite Monastery.

  • On the next day, we will have the privilege of celebrating Mass at the Church of the Annunciation, a site constructed on the exact location where the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary. Right next to it stands St. Joseph's Church, which was built above the carpentry workshop of Mary's husband.

We will then walk over to a Synagogue Church nearby, next to the Orthodox Church and Mary's Well.

After lunch, we will proceed to the Cana Catholic Wedding Church, where Jesus performed his first miracle.

  • On the third day, we will travel to Galilee. First, we will attend Mass at the Church of the Beatitudes, then visit the Tabgha Church of the Loaves and Fish (also known as the Church of the Multiplication) and the Church of the Primacy of Saint Peter.

Afterward, we will enjoy a boat ride on the picturesque Sea of Galilee, the freshwater lake where Jesus is said to have walked on water, before having lunch.

Next, we will go to Kfar Nahum National Park (also known as Capernaum National Park) and visit Magdala's Chapel, a 1st-century synagogue.

  • In the early morning, we will attend Mass at the Church of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, the site where Jesus transfigured in the presence of his disciples.

After lunch, we will visit the Church of the Visitation and the Church of St. John the Baptist.

  • In Bethlehem, we will spend some time exploring and attend Mass at the Church of Nativity. After lunch, we will visit Shepherds' Field.

Before entering Jerusalem, we will have the opportunity to shop for religious articles. On our way back to Jerusalem, we will also visit the Pool of Siloam.

  • Today, we will start at the Cenacle, also known as the Upper Room. Afterward, we will attend Mass at St. Peter in Gallicantu, which is believed to be where Peter denied knowing Jesus three times.

Following lunch, we will explore the Western Wall Tunnels, a network of underground passages and chambers beneath the Old City of Jerusalem. Next, we will visit the Western Wall, and if time permits, we will also visit the Dome of the Rock.

Finally, we will visit the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed a paralysed man, and the Church of St. Anne, the birthplace of the Virgin Mary.

  • In the morning, we follow the Via Dolorosa through the Old City of Jerusalem. Then we attend Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the site where Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected.

After lunch, we will visit St. James Cathedral Church. In the evening, we will join the 5pm processions by the Franciscans at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

At night, we will head back to the Tower of David for the 8:30pm Night Spectacular, an innovative Sound and Light show.

  • Today, we will explore the Mount of Olives, starting with the Chapel of the Ascension, the Pater Noster Church, and the Church of Dominus Flevit, which commemorates the spot where Jesus wept over the future destruction of Jerusalem. Then, we will attend Mass at the Church of All Nations, also known as the Basilica of the Agony. We will visit the Tomb of the Virgin, which is believed to be the burial place of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

After lunch, we will have some time to shop for religious articles and then return to the hotel to rest.

In the night, we return to the Basilica of the Agony for a Holy Hour prayer at 8pm.

  • On this day, we will check out of our hotel in Jerusalem and attend Mass at the Church of Saint Lazarus in Al-Eizariya on the way out. This church is located near the tomb of Lazarus and the house of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, according to Christian tradition. Next, we will visit Qasr El Yehud, the western section of the traditional site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist on the Jordan River.

Then, we will stop at the Ahava Visitor Center for some quick shopping before heading to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. We will have some time to relax and float in the salt-rich water.

  • On our final day, we will revisit Bethlehem for some last-minute shopping of religious articles and make a special stop at the Emmaus Church for Mass.

Then, we will visit St. Peter's Catholic Church in Old Jaffa, which commemorates St. Peter's miracles and vision, and we'll also take a tour around the city.

After lunch, we will explore the old city before heading to the airport to board the night flight back home. We will have a layover in Istanbul before reaching KLIA the next day.

  • Home sweet home!
